What is the closest equivalent to the Ford Focus SE Wagon in terms of reliability and gas mileage?

Asked by Guru9DMST Jun 05, 2017 at 12:17 PM about the 2001 Ford Focus SE Wagon

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I need to replace my old reliable 2001 Ford Focus SE Wagon. What is an
equivalent car available today in terms of reliability and fuel economy? I don't
need a lot of fancy features, just a dependable car for getting to and from work.
If this car was available used, all the better.

There is a Focus hatchback which is the closest thing to a station wagon that Ford has. A small SUV like the Escape might be what you want.

CV boots, head gaskets, and excessive oil consumption are known problems with most Subarus. They really aren't great in terms of reliability.
