Speedo not working and check engine light?

Hi Tom , speedometer still works . Check engine was on before.
Transmission output sensor
There are an input and output (output sends signal to ecm ) ecm sends signal to trans controller and shift occurs.
Input tells ecm trans is in motion
My car wouldn't shift out of first so upon replacing my speed input sensor i noticed the wireing harness going to it had worn and melted together once i seperated and re taped them my car shifted like a champ
