Take it to a real mechanic and not those corporate-ran service garages. Sputtering and gasoline smell could mean a problem with a leaking fuel rail/injectors. Obviously that could be a fire hazard, so get it serviced quick.

lukelue- couple of questions for you;. Please tell me that you are not the original owner of this car, correct? And, do you have any service records? How many miles on this 2012 ? I'm thinking that this particular car was not serviced diligently and has been neglected. Maybe , it was used or misused as a taxi or some other fleet vehicle.. in any case, --YES, take it to your mechanic or dealership before the whole thing catches on fire or blows the engine..
