Mechanics can't seem to find a problem so I need help!

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

For the past 3 years I have been having
trouble with my car. Sometimes when I am in
stop and go traffic or waiting at a stop light it
likes to rev the engine on its own, jumping in
rpms, then jerks forward. After it jerks it feels
like it's about to shut off but only has once.
The odd thing is, this only happens in warm
weather. I went a winter long with no
problems and now it's acting up again. I've
taken it to a mechanic twice but they
couldn't get it to act up when they test drive
it. It's scary to drive and I want it finally fixed!

Pull a couple of spark plugs. See if they look black and fouled. If you find a lot of carbon, try replacing your Engine Coolant Temp sensor. I'm guessing you have no check engine light on since the mechanics can't seem to figure it out. Also, you can clean or replace your IAC. (Idle Air Control) valve. I would also remove my MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor and clean that also. You can by a spray can of MAF cleaner at your local parts store. Here is a video on the IAC. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fToVvVD2orc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Podb7WoRE9w
