how can i tell if my car has impact damage

i bought a used nissan altima a week ago and i have noticed that the steering is messed
up . i took the car in twice already and they put a tie rod on it and did a four wheel
alignment. the steering is still getting stiff and the steering wheel does not line up with
wheels. it also feels funny when i go over bumps
