Concerning my 2wd ram to a 4wd ram

Asked by Richard May 31, 2018 at 02:04 PM about the 2008 Dodge RAM 1500 ST Quad Cab RWD

Question type: Car Customization

Would i beable to convert my 08 2wd ram 1500 to
4wd using the drive train from a 99? I know the
axels, transmissions, and teenager case are
interchangeable, but what about everything else?

In theory I suppose you could do this but you will be money ahead by selling your truck and buying a 4x4. I seriously doubt the old transmission is compatible with the 08 ECU.

The ecu doesn't control the tranny, i do(the 08 is a 6spd manual). Upon the updated info, will it work? I ask because my dad has a 99 he's selling me to do just that and i want to make sure it'll all mesh up before i attempt to do so.
