So I have a 2003 bmw 325ci and the transmission
when bad so I plan on replacing it with a 2005 bmw
325i transmission since it’s the only one I can find. I
want to know is it going to fit?

It should work as long as it's the same transmission. There are two different versions for these cars, a ZF and a GM. You can look underneath for the tag on the side of the transmission (I believe the driver side) and you'll be able to see which it is.
Ok thank you you so much I will be sure to look for the ZF tag when I’m getting the transmission.
As long as the numbers match it will work. If they don’t then it won’t work. Oh it might bolt up and look the same but it will be electronically incompatible.

Regarding G A's comment, it will bolt up, but if you HAD to use the other transmission, you would need the corresponding driveshaft front section, harness, and TCM. This is only worth it if you're going from a ZF to GM transmission, as the ZFs are prone to failure.
