My husbands 2004 Chrysler Sebring is emitting smoke from under the hood. He's currently stranded at his Naval Base in Virginia and doesn't feel safe driving the car, obviously!

Asked by GeorgiaLucy Sep 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM about the 2004 Chrysler Sebring LX Convertible FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The car began smoking so he popped the hood to check it out. It would seem that a valve is broken on the hose that runs from the radiator to a gasket housing. It's the valve on the housing itself that has snapped. He doesn't currently have AAA so we're trying to find out what the problem is so we can go forward in the most educated way possible! Sorry for the lack of detail, it's not my car so I don't know much about this model! Thank you in advance for your help.

It's far better to have patience, drive a little, let it cool off, drive until just about mid range temperature....as many times as it takes to get to shop. If the shop is too far to do that, do as Tom suggested and have it towed...just trying to save you a tow bill. Best of luck.

Towtrucks do save money, don,t chance a big engine problem, just to save a few bucks. Tow it, get it fixed right, then have peace of mind.
