chevy impala 2008 3.9 do I need alternator with pulley or without pulley

If generator is belt driven, get one with a pulley. I realize some belt driven components, the new component may not come with a pulley. Some of the national brand autostores will take the pulley off old component and put it on new one. Just my opinion.
