My serpentine belt broke.

Asked by Stumpp9903 Mar 12, 2020 at 06:16 AM about the 2002 Chrysler Sebring LXi Convertible FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I didn’t know my belt was broke and not sure
how long it was broke but my tranny started
slipping then gave out pulled over and seen
the belt broke no gauges or anything showed
to be running hot or anything. What could I
have messed up? Anything I need to do
before putting the belts on and trying to crank
it.

Spin all the pulleys by hand before you replace the belt to make sure they are not frozen or making noise. The crankshaft pulley won't move, BTW. Install a new belt and be on your way. A slipping transmission will not have much to do with a worn or broken serpentine belt.
