Question type: Maintenance & Repair
i have a 2001 dodge durango 4.7 liter that wont start, it has individual coils on each spark plug so i cant imagine all of them going bad at one time, and i am pretty sure it isntthe fuel, it wont even fire with starting fluid i am puzzled of what it could be

A stuck open egr valve will cause a turn over but not start issue. And it will not always thro a check engine code. Is your check engine light on?
How cold is it there and how many miles are on it?
my durango has 225,000 miles on it and yes check engine light is on but its been on for two years and the code is saying its cylinder 8 misfiring, it has always ran until two weeks ago, i had to have it towed and a couple days later i went out and it started right up i ran it for a week then it stopped, the temp here in ohio is aound 20 degrees
Was it warmer the day it started?
The reason I asked is that these are notorious for ecm/computer not sending signal when cold.
tuff4x4 r u saying the computer is going bad
That's why I asked if it was warmer outside the day it started.
yes it was but only by 10 degrees, ive been told i might have lost ground due to moisture
Ok. that's what I needed to know. These are very temperature sensitive. I had a dodge truck last week doing the same thing. This is how I condemned the ECM/computer. Go out to the vehicle, make sure it doesn't start, remove the computer.(It should be under the hood with 3 8mm bolts mounting it to the firewall on passenger side and 1 8mm bolt that mounts the wiring harness to it.) bring it in the house and set it on the dryer for a 1/2 hour (dryer on) take it back to the vehicle ,bolt the wiring harness to it and see if it starts right up.
Check all the fuses if you have a blown one for the coils you wont get a spark.
I almost have the same trouble, I went to Auto zone for check engine light they told me to replace the throttle sensor and manifold sensor, it works but next day won't start they told me to replace the crankshaft sensor and I did put a new one in but does the same way.... Keep cranking but won't start.
