It indicates a fun factor, just to show you how often and for how long the top is down. That's all it is. Remember, Mini's are a car that is manufactured with little whimsical things that make them fun. Not only do the handle better than most cars on the market, but they have so many little quirky things like the interior lights that can change color according to your mood or style. The little hide away area on the dash, above the glove box. The center speedometer that includes all the idiot lights, How you can find your mileage consumption. It's always best to consult your User Manual for tips on these and more devices that populate your MIni.
