If you don't have a hand held machine to do it for you the fastest way to erase the code is by draining the cars main computer memory. Unhook your battery, do both terminals just to be sure, put your key in your ignition and turn it to accessory (as if you were just going to listen to your radio). About 1/2 a second will go by before you will no longer have any lights on your dash. Your memory has just been erased, keep in mind that this will also reset your stored radio stations, any programed climate control settings and may default your factory alarm if you have one in the vehicle, so keep your head out of the hood when you hook the battery back up because your alarm may go off, have the key fob ready to disarm it. If the problem was not fixed, as soon as your car senses the issue again the light will come back on. Hope this helped you out and good luck.
agreed with other poster, also you can just pull the ECM fuse out for 5 min,it will clear the code.
