Control on the temp for heat & a/c fights me. What's causing this?

Control on the temp for heat & a/c fights me. Turn the knob, and the degrees just roll around the same area. E.g.: this morning wanted the heat on at anything 80 degrees or up, and it just toggled around in the 60's. Turning the knob repeatedly, without much success. Even after the car warmed up a bit, still did it.

okay....you need a new heater control panel~ https://www.google.com/#q=2002+Buick+Rendezvous+CXL+heater+control+ panel
If I get a chance today, I will take a pic and upload, but mine is digital. Guess I should have been more specific, and the solution may still be the same. I have a dial on the left that you turn to increase or decrease the degrees (you see the actual numbers), with an up/down tab on the left. The screen with the numbers is in the middle. The knob on the right adjusts the heat/air control for the passenger side. Thank you by the way for your answer, and if you would know, would it still be the same solution? I have buttons below (not dials) that direct
Whoops. ....that direct the air flow (face, feet, defrost, etc.) I will try to get the pic today.
