Jeep randomly won't start..Just thumps when key turns

Asked by Deenie53 Feb 22, 2017 at 05:31 PM about the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

If I wait 5 minutes and try again, it's fine. So many things replaced. Mechanic
can't fix what isn't broke he says. And naturally when I take it there, it is
running.

The thump thing is throwing me here, otherwise hasn't your mechanic scanned the vehicle for any trouble codes? If you where having a problem with the engine there would be a trouble code set. This would let you know what to look at.

Have checked codes. Since this problem started, we've replaced oil pressure switch, transmission cooler lines, starter motor assembly and crankshaft sensor. Had thought might be TIPM, but no other "strange" happenings such as windows going up and down, horn going off. Now thinking the internal fuel pump relay inside the TIPM..Nothing but money, money
