Why does my 2008 Volkswagen Jetta cuts off while driving

I have a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg when
I'm driving the car stalls out and then I'll turn it
back on little putter and then the gas seems like it
doesn't flow what could this be? Could it be the
fuel filter?

It could be and it never hurts to change it, I replace mine every couple of years regardless of mileage. After how long of driving until it cuts out and after it has how long until it will restart and run? Will it run the longest after a true cold start then longer after the longer you let it cool off?
