When i get on the highway and accelerate my truck is fine. when I coast or get off the gas and accelerate again the truck jerks as if its starving for fuel; when I hit the gas hard it goes away and accelerates fine until I coast again and hit the gas lightly. What is the problem

If the truck has a lot of miles and you have never changed the fuel filter it would be a good idea and starting point. The filter is usually located on the drivers side of the frame rail.
Check the Air filter also.
Give it a tune up too ya know change spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributer cap, roter button ,change oil oil filter just do proper tune up
It don't have a distributer cap or rotor it has it has coil over spark plug
