You saying dome light cover melted? Maybe because somebody left the dome lamp on?

It is easy to check the charging voltage. What are the other 13 problems?

Biggest problem: wrong mechanic, lol. That being said, to find out if its overcharging, take a multimeter and measure voltage at battery. Key off should be about 12.5 volts. Engine running about 15 volts
