2011 ram 1500 slt passenger door not locking

Asked by wstrick14 Jan 03, 2020 at 11:44 PM about the 2011 RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently purchased my 2011 ram and when I bought it the
doors all locked/unlocked when I pressed the locking
buttons. However it has recently started with not locking
my passenger door at all unless I manually do so. Any
suggestions as to what I can do to remedy this issue?

Inside the key fob there are little discs that flex and close the switch contacts. Over time these discs shift around so that they make contact with the wrong circuits. The car has a mind of it's own. Open the fob, take out the circuit board, find the contact discs, clean them with alcohol, make sure they are centered on the buttons, and put it back together. Any locksmith could do this inexpensively or you could DIY. It solved my horn and windows going down, and locks rocking as soon as they unlock.
