08 Impreza 2.5i No CEL No Start

Asked by GuruTC8YV Jun 27, 2018 at 11:54 AM about the 2008 Subaru Impreza 2.5i Hatchback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my 08 Impreza was driving fine until one evening
it wouldn’t start. Battery power fine, new alternator
last year, regular oil changes and no noticeable
changes in running/driving behavior.

When I try to start it, it’ll crank just fine and 3/10
times it’ll turn over, but it dies right away. Can’t even
press the gas to rev it before it dies. Scanned with
OBD2, no codes. Heard something from fuel pump
when I checked to see if it was turning on, not sure
if the 2 second sound it made was normal or too
short.. but it made a sound so I assume it’s
working?

Very confused, please help!!

Try starting with the fuel tank cap off. If ok, then it's the stupid evap system solenoid mounted near the gas tank. There's a recall for this.
