odometer correction

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i recently took it in for service when the windshield wipers stopped working . they replaced at body conrol module with a used part per my request (591-03259). They had to bring someone in to program the part., it was fixed however the car went in with 101293 miles and now shows 153791 miles which i assume was the mileage on the auto of the used part. Can the odometer be corrected? if so can the original programmer come back and fix it? thanks steve

i called the repair facility and they had never heard of this. they ended up calling the party that had come out to program the body control module. He said the mileage is controled by this computer part and since it had come out of an auto that had 153,791 miles there was no way to alter it. he said most of the state revenue offices had a form that you could use to certify the original miles. Since my auto was over 10 years old it was not valid in the state of Arkansas . i had the repair shop write me a letter documenting what happened to the mileage and i will keep it with the title
