Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I did an alternator change on my JXI. While removing the old alternator there was an arc.
After the new install, I have a no crank no start. All fuses check and I installed a new
auto shutdown relay. grounds are are clean and snug. what else am i missing?

Did you check the main engine fuse under the hood. It should be like a 30 or 40 amp fuse. Not the little tiny ones. Have you check for a fusible link between the battery and starter as well? Follow the positive cable to the starter.
In searching for a fusible link, I learned there was a wire disconnected from the starter. The cramped space I was working in to remove and or install the bottom bolt of the alternator, which is threaded from the backside, is right in the same area as the starter. Thank you for your swift response and identifying where the fusible link could be located.
That may be your wire that comes from your ignition. That would explain why you are getting a no start.
Ihave checked all fuses _and relays all good still no crank I'm lost have power to started ttun key no crank what else can it be
I had the same problem with a 2009 convertible. Sudden no crank, no start. Checked what I could find out about in forums like this. Not the transmission linkage, not a starter relay, which was a whole other can of worms to track. Possible new computer or WHERE are the RELAYS. They no longer exist, except at the dealership which kept telling me I had the wrong fuse box for my vin number. Very distressing. Nothing seems to be simple with this car. Then the simple answer. It was the battery cable. And because you can't just easily check that, it's the last thing you check. But it would normally be the first thing you check. And the crappy pot metal they use to create a jumper or charge station under the hood is so current resistant it trims several volts from what is available to test, charge or jump. This car wouldn't take a jump through those posts. I'm replacing mine with brass bolts to compensate for the battery posts getting less than the required amount of attention.
