why is 1996 chrysler cooling fan staying on

I suspect you've got an OLD battery that cannot take a charge anymore, causing the alternator to work overtime and also a reduced voltage condition....you fan does not like a "reduced voltage" condition...put a new battery in there and more importantly WIRE brush the chassis where the ground lug 1/0 cable attaches, make sure it gets a clean corrosion free connection so that your electrical system can enjoy a NEW battery~...please.~
