is there a way to brighten dashboard & radio display lights when headlights are NOT on.

Question type: General

I have my light switch on auto mode.  During the day, especially on the brightest days
the dashboard display dims to the point its almost impossible to see.  Strange thing
is if the sun goes behind a cloud or if I go under a bridge, display will brighten and sometimes
stay bright for 5 or ten minutes.  Turning the rheostat wheel doesn't do anything unless
the headlights or parking lights are on.

it may have an automatic light sensor on dash near defrost vents [cover with tape] ex guess /?
