2009 Audi TT Prestige for 20k at carmax with 58K miles

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Hi guys, I found this beautiful TT with 58K miles at carmax and Im deciding
between this one or a 2013 gti with 40k-ish miles. What do you think? The TT
(the GTI too) are in what seems to be great condition and well serviced. Any
known problems with the TT for that year? I usually drive around 8-10 miles to
work and back, and every two months I drive to Mexico from Vegas, which is
around 850 miles one way.

Great cars , both, but also expensive to repair especially with mechanical issues with engine, I would have a trusted mechanic inspect either before purchase, make sure to check for overheating or any fluid leakage issues.

Well the Audi is definitely a fun car, and will handle the trips just fine, the only issue is the maintenance as earlier described. Regular service intervals for both (if you have the DSG gear box) is every 40K from a drain and fill/ filter change, and every 7year/70Kmi you have to change the timing belt and tensioner (at 70K or 7year you should consider changing the t-stat and the water pump. Oh and here's a hint both of those cars should have had the tranny flushed and the audi should have had the timing belt done, ensure that those have been completed before buying. Good luck on which ever you bought.
