2012 Kia Sorento not using oil, engine seized
I bought a 2012 Sorento 2 years ago and never had a
problem. Right at Christmas driving down the interstate
and it missed then died leaving us a $500 tow bill. A
master mechanic with Ford looked at it and said in all his
20 yrs as a mechanic he never saw anything like this. The
car was full of oil, but the engine was dry and the crank
cracked in 3 places.
I check online and see recalls.
My car isn't on that list . A normal type of problem we
get hit with around here. I called Kia and got the run
around so I took to Twitter. They told me to take it to the
dealership. They performed a diagnostic and the foreman
said he has been a mechanic for 22 yrs and never saw
anything like that. I need a new engine for $5,000 and I
owe $5,200 on the car. She said I can see if Kia will help
but unless I have service receipts from oil changes, they
won't. Most people nowadays change their own dang oil.
And I can't even find the receipts where we bought the oil.
I have no clue what to do. I'm going to call then once more
and pray I don't have to get a lawyer.
Has anyone else had anything like this to happen?
