For those who own or drive a 4th gen Charger 5.7, what is your best gas mileage?
I have a modded 06 Charger R/T 5.7 Hemi. 268 custom camshaft, ported mopar heads, CAI, long tube headers, 2800 stall converter, 2.5 fabricated catback, Diablo CMR custom tune. Car is putting 385 rear wheel horse power at 392 ft/lbs torque. I am able to get near 29 highway miles per gallon. City miles are around 13 milese per gallon.

mines stock and flirts with 28/29 with a little city thrown in....if i'm strictly city driving it bumps down to around 19-21...and thats with a 5.7 hemi and a K&N intake, my best 1/4 mile et in it was a 13.85 @ 101...not bad for a 4000 lb tank.lol
What year is your LX? 13.85 with just a K&N is wild to believe with these cars. Did you have on radials? Wht was your 60 ft? What made it so juiced? When I first had my 06, I put on a K&N and had superchips. My best time with that was 14.2 @ 99.
i've been around drag racing since i was in diapers, i actually consider that charger slow considering my dart runs in the 12 second range and i've gone 7.80's before in the dragster at 170. but anyways for some reason i believe that getting numbers out of most of these cars is sheer driver expierience, i shut off traction control, cleaned up the tires, brought the RPM up as high as it would hold it, and shifted it myself to redline. it went a 13.99 my first pass ever and that was bone stock prior to the K&N. the 13.80 was on a great weather day, i warmed the car up, did my thing, and it ran the number. and yes that was with the stock radials.
http://cardomain.com/ride/3149406 there's my car domain, forgot to mention its a 06, ever been to quaker city raceway? thats where i work and race.
that dart is pretty sick. Good job. No it is rare I go up north. We are down in New Orleans. 13.85 on a stock 06 R/T is really good. Grats. I have to brag today, I beat an 08 SRT 8 Superbee Charger pretty badly today. I am stoked.
hey, i ddin't even realize that was the dart page, but the charger was also listed under my rides and shouldn't have been too hard to find, but we've all seen a red 06.lol...but ya you've got altitude and air density to take into consideration too, i dunno what your track altitude is, but look at the new dodge challenger prototypes they ran at denver. they were running 11.90's...then 10.50's the following week at a citn not 7000 feet above sea level. but back to the topic, i agree that the 13 mark on a stocker is rare, i've seen quite a few of them come out and most are in the low to even mid 14's. however we had a 5.7 with ALOT done to it...may have even be a de badged srt, in the 12's...wonder what that cost him.lol
To get a 5.7 in the twelves it has to be close to $5000-$7000. That is heads, camshaft, catback, decent headers, stall, CAI, tuner, wheels and tires.
how do you get it near 29 mpg hwy? i have a 300C with the same engine and no upgrades but only pull 23 mpg. and from what ive seen i thought the charger was heavier than the 300 also.
the magnum was deff a few hundred pounds heavier, but the charger and 300 are within a few lbs of each other. i try to keep my foot out of mine and have a cold air intake but thats it...which have me about 20 hp and at least 10% better fuel mileage. dyno proven ; P
hmm maybe ill put one on the 300C. was it a mopar cold air intake you put on? or some other brand?
K&N typhoon it was called i believe...it was alot cheaper than the mopar. it has a chrome pipe and comes with everything including a new air box and filter...i wanna say it was like 250? and the mopar was more like 380...just look on summit
The LX cars all around the same weight 4100 lbs. the ported heads and camshaft make the engine more efficient. MDS is a marketing gimmick. the LS2 is a 5.7 and they get the same mileage without MDS. Custom diablo tune, air fuel mixture has to be right. This is 29 highway miles, city miles is another story. I do get around on about 10-12 gallons per week. I try not to drive much. in a nutshell that is how I get 29 highway miles. talk to Eddie at Southern Hotrod-- southernhotod.com
