Is my oil supposed to be black this soon?

Asked by carlaw11 Mar 13, 2017 at 12:37 PM about the 2011 Audi A4 Avant 2.0T quattro Premium Plus AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a used 2011 Audi A4 Avant. I am not due for an oil change for
another 4,000 miles. They topped off my oil the other day and out of
curiousity we checked it and the oil was dark black. Audi service told us that
the oil turns black almost immediately after getting an oil change or topping
it off due to the type of oil used. Is this in fact true? Just making sure as I'm
about to take a very long road trip by myself and wanted to be safe.

Since it's synthetic, I'll change the oil every 10,000 miles. It has 65,000 miles on it and about 6,000 miles on this round of oil
