No start and no crank
Asked by Lorena Sep 18, 2016 at 12:54 PM about the 2012 Chrysler 200 S Sedan FWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
So I went to start my car and nothing.
Figured it was my battery and jumped the
car and it started. Drove it and it died...not
like a regular my battery is dead, but it's
like the system just shut down. All the dash
lights came on it just would not start. I
turned the key fob the other way and when
I went to start the car the AC and radio
came on...all lights were still working but
the car still wouldn't start? Could this be
my key fob or something else? Any
suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Did anyone figure out the problem with the Chrysler 200 with the no crank no start ? I got my son a 2015 Chrysler 200 and it will start sometime and he will try again later and it want do nothing . Anybody have any ideas ?
I had to take it to the shop it is something that should be covered under warranty but I had to get a new battery because it juicy it. I want to say it is something dealing with the alternator.
What was the "something" covered by your warranty? Got a similar problem.
Same thing! My 2012 Chrysler 200 will be running just fine, amd we will park it, say to run into the grocery store. I come out 15 mins later and it won't crank. It is like the battery is dead except my radio and everything works! If I wait 20 mins it starts up fine again!
had the same problem with our chrylser 200! Finally the 3rd mechanic figured it out....bad ignition wire! Replaced that and started right up. Might be worth checking into if you have no crank/no start issue.
Change oil crazy but change it
Some thing happened to me today, but I have the answer. It has something to do with adjusting your seat and trying to start your car at the same time. The solution is to reset the system by disconnecting the battery for about 5 minutes and reconnecting. Get a jump start if it sounds like your battery is low. This system is just like your favorite toy when the battery is low.
Hey everyone! I drive a 2015 200. A year ago I thought my battery was dead and my husband replaced in on the driveway. The following months, my could would completely turn off at stop lights during rush hour with no power to even the Hazards! After this happening with my husband in the car, he finally said this is dangerous and we need to get it checked. Luckily the car was still covered under the warranty so we brought it to the dealer. When the battery is being changed, your car has to still be running! :o When my husband changed the battery it reset the computer and the car was turning off due to a battery error! They reset my computer and everything has been fine ever since. I hope this helps someone out there.

I'm having this same issue. My car acted like it did want to start this morning and I th bought it was just the cold affecting an aging battery. The car started and I made it to work. However, when i was heading to lunch the car would not start. There was a slight click, the instrument panel went black and the lights dimmed. I had to get a jump to leave. The car started after it was jumped but now the check engine light was on and my car would not go over 35 miles an hour and the RPMS never got over 3500 and wouldn't shift (transmission speed). Once I got home I turned off the car and now it won't start again. Taking it in to the shop tomorrow.

bad ignition wire or bad fuel pump.. or crankshaft sensor
I’m having the same exact problems. Car will not start but music and lights are still on and won’t cut off( although they are supposed to automatically) this is the 2nd time it has happened the first it happened my screen said “service transmission “ afterwards. I’m completely lost!!!
I took my 2015 to chrystler they told me a couple things first off are bullshit. But work. New battery? Apparently if your battery is on the way out need to replace it because this multi air engine slash electronic transmission cant communicate. Second wheel sensor bad will make it not shift cause stalling. Third if the oil is low or needs to be changed it'll stall. Aka this car is unsafe. I suggest everyone calls chrystler and recall center because no matter what our cars should not shut off in the middle of driving. These are not safety mechanisms. This is fraud and bullshit. I have children got stuck in the middle of intersections... i left the dealership after they said buy a battery got stuck they made me fight for a rental. Its pathetic these cars are still on road. Fight this tooth and nail.
Have your start checked.
Sorry, check your starter. I had all same signs and it was the starter
My car won’t start Chrysler 200 2015 radio on lights on no crank , what’s wrong
QuiteSimplyJ answered 5 years ago
If you are having this issue, instead of using your finger to start the car, try using your key fob like your finger. Use it and press the button with it. Please let me know if this works!

Oil change or low oil. If the car is low on oil, and our chrysler 200 has to have oil added ALL THE TIME, the car will shut down, even when driving. The dealer said this was a safety mechanism built into the engine to keep it from running while low on oil. I would say it is pretty dangerous to stop running when it is in traffic!!!
Hello guys , so I have a 2015 Chrysler 200, and I was googling and found this! My car just started doing this to me, except, when I turn on my car, my screen to the radio isn’t working. It’s pitch black, my lights are super low beam when I have them on high, I can’t charge my phone, because that’s not working either, and my back cameras don’t work because of the screen. My then didn’t turn on, so we bought a new battery, because the old one was super DEAD, no life. It started working good except the camera and radio and everything else I mentioned. A week passed by, and my car wouldn’t start at all again! My husband jump start my car, and it turned, but the next day same thing! My battery is brand new! How does this happen, we called the dealer ship and they want us to take it in on Monday, so we will, but I’m wondering what it is? Was Chrysler a bad choice and should have got something else? It’s only 4 years old! I had a 2005 Chevy Aveo as my first car and that thing lasted me years! Never any problems! I’m so stressed and disappointed . Help!
Hello everyone, it's the TIPM. Google it, it's something only Chryslers have. Chrysler is a horrible choice i have a 2013 200.
QuiteSimplyJ answered 4 years ago
QuiteSimplyJ Best Answer I tend to agree with GuruKFKMZ. It's the TIPM. Unfortunately I've already sold my car to a dealership and am paying even more money now which sucks.. Try this youtube link for info on fixing the issue...https://youtu.be/UoDsC-JZNhM Hope it helps someone.
It’s a fuse . look at your fuse box and you should see a “ignition” and a fuse directly below or under it . change it out

Hey there. I hope this thread is still alive lmao. I have a 2011 Sebring convertible that I bought 2nd hand. I’m having the same issue, I went to my brothers school and back and put my convertible top up, but the windows wouldn’t go up. Turn car off, boom, lights/radio/dash on, but it will not turn over. I know the 200 engine is similar and I know my car is getting up there, but does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Thanks:)

Gabby, Did you ever figure anything out? I am having the exact same issues. Thank you!
When the battery voltage gets below 7 volts, the computer shuts everything off ((including your remote). Jump start will work, but you may have to leave the cables hooked up for a few minutes until the battery voltage gets above 7. You have a bad battery.
MAN SOME OF THESE ANSWERS!! NO-ITS NOT ENGINE OIL. NO ITS NOT THE BATTERY. COULD BE GROUND ISSUE-THESE HAVE ISSUES WITH PDC'S (POWER DISTRIBUTION CENTERS)-THEY CAN CAUSE THE STARTER CIRCUIT FUSE TO BLOW OR JUST NOT POWER UP AT ALL, BUT EVERYTHING ELSE IE RADIO, WINDOWS, HVAC BLOWER FAN ETC WILL KEEP WORKING

Okay the date is August 30 th So since the Chrysler 200 it's battery is in a not so good location that the common person that doesn't have any mechanical ability will not be able to look at. So if your car has nothing doesn't turn over doesn't do anything. As I tried to jump start it it was smoking so that led to me thinking there was a possible short. To get to so-called battery you must jack your car up take your front driver side tire off. Then pull back the wheel well under the front side of the car then you will reveal the battery. In our case the car dealer guy said he put a brand new battery in. Well he did put a new battery in but the positive connection was very rusted out and I pulled it off with my hands. So thus I had to use a grinder get a new connector piece and connect it securely to the battery. Guess what happened next The car was fully functional and started. So with all your Chrysler people out there there might be something else wrong but also it might be the battery and it's not in the greatest place Thanks Chrysler an american-made car they really want to stick it to you...

At least once a month when I cut it off it won't start it usually has to sit about 30 mins after 30 mins it's starts right up.. And I'm sick of it I never know when and where it will happen.. Also the radio works when it won't to

My 2015 chrysler is doing the same thing. Every time I have it towed to get fixed it starts back up. I have paid for diagnostic and they still say they dont know what the issue is because the car starts up. So why did I have to pay for the diagnostic? Chafe the starter. I have a new battery, I put in in march 2020. They say the car disconfigured and they had to reconfigure the car. Lies. My car drove until No er 26, 2020, cut off wouldn't start. Everything else comes on. Just wont start. Had it towed as soon as they took the car off the tow truck it started. Up. Okay got the car back dec 3, 2020, drive it dec. 18,stops and wint start. This was at 1245 am. I'm getting off work. Had to walk home.get to work the next day at 4pm the car starts up. Now just last night Dec. 22, 2020 this car is not starting up. Still everything comes on. I keep the oiled changed faithfully. Chrysler what is going on. This year model has so many recalls, and they try to tell each of us that the VIN is not in the system. BS. We all need to use Chrysler.

2014 200. Won't start. Everything works, radio, blower, etc Won't click and won't turn over. Help!!!
I may have this at the earliest stages. When I push the start button on the 200 it would turn off power to some electronics but not all. Then (if I held the button in) it would start. I took it to the dealer. They replaced the battery because it was "dead" but the problem did not fix. Now they are replacing the physical switch ($499) which I am waiting a day for. They seam to be shot gunning and not diagnosing. It doesn't seem like they know HOW their ignition system works. When the car starts it runs like a clock with no problems. Mine started every time till they replaced the battery. Now they say it doesn't start at all. The message on my maintenance report said the switch replacement was "just the beginning". I asked what the next step was if the switch replacement didn't work and just got a blank stare so I asked what "just the start" meant. MORE STARING. So I am guessing we are all in trouble.

Here is a possible simple resolution to the no start problem and I figured I would try to reset the computer and the easiest way for that is go like you’re going to start the car where all the screens come up then hit the hot and cold arrows hold for five seconds. You should get a screen that comes up and with the appropriate resets that you need hold it for five and then take it off. Take the car away back, restart it and it’ll start right up.
