Headlights are dim

I have cleaned the lens replaced both bulbs and there not dim as though the alternator is bad there is just that when you turn the switch for the lights nothing changes and idk if it has a sensor for when it is dark out but nothing changes then either. I looked at the fuse box on the side of the glove box and the diagram shows that there is spots for the left and right headlight, high and low beams but there isn't any of the connections in the back of the box. I am going to check the under hood box and behind the light on the battery side cause I saw that those were the problems for other people and I will post later wether I found out anything
