battery tested bad was old from 2006 wasnt having problems with it but replaced it to be safe a couple days before i put unleaded plus in it for the first time when it got down to an 8th of a tank i put regular back in it after changing battery it has a load knock when starting out what could be the problem

Have you checked you oil level? The fuel should have no effect or cause since the cherokee is made for regular fuel.

It is possible you got a bad tank of gas or because the tank was run low on fuel causing the filter to get clogged and restricting fuel.
