check engine light

Asked by gmc12 Aug 30, 2016 at 07:52 AM about the 2012 Jeep Liberty Sport 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was recently driving on the highway going about 70 mph when my car
began to stutter, the check engine light started blinking but then turned off
after about 2 miles. This has happened before so about a week ago i
brought it to the nearest mechanic and they said there was no codes in the
computer and everything "seemed" normal. What could cause this I'm
afraid its the catalytic converter.

Engine is misfiring (flashing check engine light) find another mechanic. Buy yourself a economy code reader everybody can afford one in 2016.

I have no idea what is wrong. The point of my post "guess again" is to point out that just throwing parts at it may not get it fixed and might cost you extra money. Do what Auto_Centric suggested and get a code reader or have the trouble codes read at a local parts store. The catalytic converter will likely not cause this type of intermittent symptom.... http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f28/liberty-cylinder-misfire- computer-issue-550264/
