Gear oil for 2012-2016 Impreza MT

Asked by Paul May 19, 2018 at 08:47 AM about the 2012 Subaru Impreza 2.0i Sport Premium Hatchback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have sn ‘12 Impreza with a stick and its getting up
in miles so I should change tge oil in the trans and
diff. The only problem is I can’t find an
reccomended weight. And the owner manual says
the typical lawyer speak of see the dealer.  I found
on an Crosstrek forum that they use 75w90 for tgeir
mechanically identical cars. I’m just curious if
anyone knows ehat oil works.

230

75w 90 is what they call for in a manual transmission, read the bottle and make sure it says GL5, differentials the same, as for the amount I usually measure what I drain out to get close to full, then go by the dipstick
