2014 Impreza manual transmission, oil consumption & gear shift lock up?

So I went into Subaru and they said a litre of oil in 10,000km was normal, the oil light was just coming on prematurely. Still seems like a lot to me. And they didn't have any answers for the shifter locking up.

I have a 2013 Impreza manual transmission. After an oil consumption test was completed that the dealer sanctioned , Subaru will be putting in a new engine this week. Be alert to overfilling by the dealer when you start the consumption test. No issues with gearshift lockup. May sell it in 2016 without feeling guilty now that it has a new engine.

Hi Ricardo I also had an incident where the doors wouldn't lock, even when using the door button and checking all the doors were closed etc. I am glad that you got your problem resolved with your car. Right now I have to travel 2.5 hours to deal with my car and after full disclosure where I am selling my car...I am deciding that I don't need the stress of taking on Subaru. They have already lost over 100 000 $ in sales just from me warning people away. It is not a great situation to be in. My car will still have 20 000km warranty on it. It is using a litre per 2500 km right now. So...not sure what if anything Subaru will do. They have been absolutely horrendous so far. Beware of dealers in Northern Ontario is all I can say.

Insist on the oil consumption test. If it burns enough oil Subaru will at least replace the engine at no cost to you.

I had the gearshift lockup on a 2005 Forester Manual. Seems it is pretty rare. They dragged the car onto the tow truck and dragged it off at the mechanic as wheels would not move. He checked it later and said the gear shift was free. I theorize that I was parked on a hill,I was in the process of shifting from first to reverse and let off the brake before it was fully in reverse. The gear shift appeared to be stuck between gears. It one happened that one time in 13 years of driving the car. I only found one other case before yours.
