Question type: Maintenance & Repair

What parts or up grades (most immediate or those that would make the most difference) are needed to increase power of the vehicle and how complicated is it to do electrical work on these vehicles so the gauges on the dashboard can work again.

1. You could buy a Dinan ECU chip. Probably about $100 and will make some difference. There is such a wide variety of modifications you can make to an E30, ranging from an engine swap to adding a turbo (or two) to swapping the head with a 325i head, that it is hard to determine the most immediate changes. It all depends on your price range. 2.As for your guages, I'm assuming your instrument cluster has gone out, not uncommon. Sometimes giving it a light to moderate slap will resolve the problem. Besides than that you might as well buy a new one and not waste your time soldering in new lights and junk like that.
