Water pump change

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 Dodge Stratus 2.4L Dohc. I didn't
have any problems with the car other then
small vibration. I had the water pump changed
which means that the timing belt had to taken
off in order to get to it. Now it has a check
engine light on and is sputtering when sitting
still buy gets lots of power when on the gas.
What can be the problem? I have read that the
valves and pistons can not be damaged
because it is a non interfaced motor meaning
they do not touch each other. Please help

Timing belt should have been replaced along with timing belt tensioner and any belt idlers it is equipped with. If it ran correctly before the repair than I would look to see if any electrical connections have been left unplugged. Also I would verify that the cam timing has been properly set by proper installation of the timing belt.

Did it do this right after u got it back? If so take it back. If it did shortly after they worked on it, again like Bob says they could have been responsible. But if itts been awhile its probably unrelated. Check engine light on?
