How do I replace the Drivers side mirror on my 2004 Dodge Dakota 4-door SXT Truck

Asked by gregorvios Jan 19, 2007 at 12:49 PM about the 2004 Dodge Dakota SXT Quad Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The outer casing on my drivers side mirror was smashed off. I've ordered a new mirror but do not know how to go about replacing it. Do I have to take off the inside of the door? And do I need special tools?

I DIDN'T NEED ANY SPECIAL TOOLS BUT MY DODGE IS A LITTLE OLDER. THERE IS EITHER A LITTLE TRIANGLE SHAPED DOOR PANEL ON THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR OR YOU HAVE TO TAKE DOOR PANEL OFF. THERE ARE THREE NUTS THAT HOLD THE MIRROR ON. IF IT IS ELECTRIC THAN THERE IS A DISSCONECT ON THAT WIRE THAT RUNS THROUGH THE DOOR.
