how do you remove the front drivers side door?

Hello I have been unable to find you a diagram for this. Your best bet would be to acquire a service manual, such as a Haynes or Chiltons. You can find these and others relatively inexpensively on eBay. Here is a search to get you started: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2F&fkr=1&from=R8&satitle=1989+dakota+manual&category0=&submitSearch=Search Best of luck! the hinges should be bolted to the cab.
The hinges are welded to the door and frame. I have had several Astro's and the are also welded. I am looking to do this myself and am told you remove pins. If I find out I will reply.
You support the door and drive out the hinge pins.
Umm just take the 4 bolts out. Don't drive the pins out.
you can check in a repair manual or best consult a professional.

Same problem with my 96 dakota, need to remove both doors to repair broken lower hinge mounts on the door side. Manual says nothing... Bolts are not accessible, they are under the rear edge of the front quarter panel. Can you just support the door and drive the pins out? I see they sell pin/bushing kits for the doors... Thanks for any advice! This is my race bike/wood/misc hauler and I need it badly!!

Anyone? I'm just going to give it a try I guess... Whats the worst that could happen? lol... Time to get all shadetree on it.
towerman, I see two large (hinge pins), at pivot point for the door, the lower pin points down, the upper points up. they would seem to be pried apart from the hinge.
