Yes and by someone who knows what they are doing, not just relying on what the codes say. Something that changes fuel air ratio can set catalytic codes, also fuel quality and so on.
What could be cuasing my fuel to air ratio to he off? Is there a sensor I also neeed checked?
Over time sensors can go bad and some can show incorrect readings causing the computer to do things it shouldn't like going lean, or rich or advancing or retard spark, stuff like that. It is so important that you find a good tech that knows your vehicle, most of the time it is not the dealer but a local independent shop.
If your check engine light blinks, that is an indication of a misfire. A misfire can damage your catalytic converter.
Jeff is spot on. The blinking check engine light is telling you the engine is misfiring and damaging the catalytic converter. When the engine misfires the catalytic converter overheats and is damaged very quickly! When replacing the catalytic converter you must know what emission control system you have by looking at the decal under the hood. If you get the wrong catalytic converter the trouble code, usually P0420, will continue to set until you have the correct catalytic converter installed. So, get the misfiring fixed FIRST, then replace the catalytic converter with the correct one. Jim
