Can I get some engine light code help?

Asked by Quentin Mar 30, 2020 at 09:29 PM about the 2008 Honda Accord Coupe EX-L V6 with Nav

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a 08 Honda accord. The engine light goes on
and on for either a sensor or the catalytic converter
from what the code says. When I fill it up with gas the
light tends to go off then back on after the gas runs
down a bit. Anyone have any idea what is going on
here?

The computer will only run the diagnostics on the catalytic converter when the gas gauge is between three quarters and one quarter full. After a certain amount of start ups, usually three, the computer will turn off the check engine light. Once the gas gauge drops to the three quarters mark the diagnostics on the catalytic converter will run again. If it fails the check engine light comes back on. If you're getting the dreaded P0420 trouble code it's 99% of the time going to be the catalytic converter. It's rarely the downstream oxygen sensor. Hope that helps! Jim

Back to the same problems after ive had both cats replaced. Could it now be the sensors?

Did you have the catalytic converters replaced 4 years ago, when you first started this thread? Or recently? Jim
