1 car lock not working

Asked by Donna Nov 05, 2020 at 03:11 PM about the 2004 Ford Explorer Limited V8 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi, I have a 2004 Ford Explorer Limited. The Rear door on the drivers side
does not respond to the key fob to lock and unlock, and it doesn't respond to
the main switch in the car to lock and unlock. I have to manually lock and
unlock that door from the inside on that door.
Any ideas?

Could the child safety lock been turned on? (Switch is located in the door frame.)

Thank you, the child safety switch is not engaged. I will check into the lock motor. Thank you very much! Donna

Sounds like it could be the lock actuator. I have both of my slider door actuators going out on my grand caravan. When you hit the button watch to see if it attempts to move or not. If it attempts to without fully functioning it means the power is getting to it but not creating the right amount of pressure to lock/unlock the door
