04 Durango AWD 5.7 Hemi

Asked by Dkutzsr Oct 25, 2019 at 08:10 AM about the 2004 Dodge Durango SLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 04 Durango
AWD 5.7L Hemi. It has
selecror knob for 4lock
and 4L. It locked itself in
4Lock and no matter
what I do it won't come
out. I've tried
disconnecting the
battery, rocking the truck
back and forth, switching
it from low to AWD fast.
Nothing. I seen others
saying they had a
problem similar but mine
is stuck. Any
suggestions?

If it leaks oil underneath or transmission fluid chances are it's filled up a little housing on the side of the transmission it holds that stuff all those switches and stuck in

Where do I find this housing and how do I drain it. I've tried everything else everyone hss done, except for charging parts.

Dkutzsr in my experience to inactivate 4x4 you need to roll backwards tension free then lightly tap on transfer case solinoid actuator... do not fight it or pressure will build up making it stronger to lock in
