Heating issue

Has this car been over heated or had any work done to the cooling system recently? Does this car require coolant to be added every so often?

Actually yeah, I forgot about that the (not sure of actual name) air coolant pressure valve? it's a small metal thing that blows air out by the engine. well the piece is plastic and it broke about 3 months ago? and no the coolant stays full

It almost sounds like there is excessive air in the cooling system. When the air bubble gets to the heater core the heat stops. I would try to get the cooling system bled. Yup, air won't transfer hardly any heat to the heater core. Also the heater core is sometimes the highest cooling system part in the vehicle so the air (if any) migrates to the heater core. If you were having to add coolant I would have suspected a head gasket problem.

My car has no heat sitting still but when you drive it will blow extremely hot air..how do I fix this
