Sad to say but on less you are looking to put a new or rebuild engine in the Neon your chances of finding a good used replacement are slim to none. Your 10 year old Neon has a life expectancy of 7 years. My advice is to invest in something newer and NOT a Chrysler Product.

You can put any 2nd Generation neon engine (2000-2005). I would strongly recommend not putting a stock engine in which is a 2.0L (Litter) but a dodge neon srt 4 (2003-2005) which is the 2.4L turbocharged. However you don’t need to place the turbo on. You simply need to change the ECU system (All the electronics in the car). You would be looking at some great MPG (Miles Per Gallon) or some great horsepower if you added the turbo. Another option is the 2.0L magnum engine. I currently have that engine in my neon with a ECU flash and I am running 189 wheel horsepower versus the stock running 132 crank horsepower
