Have you ever painted a car before? Takes a fair bit of equipment and a dust-free environment not to mention skill. You won't even need one gallon to paint a small car like the Neon, especially the same color. You'll also need clear coat. Unless you plan on going into the business or taking up painting cars as a hobby, the cost of the equipment, a decent spray booth and the time to learn how to, you would be better off taking a car in somewhere to be painted. You can save yourself some labor costs by prepping the car yourself, but you should talk that over with your chosen painter.

To do this correctly takes skill, the right equipment, a clean painting booth and a lot of hard work to prep the car. It would only take about a gallon or so but you will RUE THE DAY you did it by yourself unless you spend a lot of time learning how to do it correctly.
