Remote start causes fogged windows in winter

Asked by GuruX5ZW1 Nov 13, 2018 at 12:38 PM about the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee windows fog
up when I use the remote start in cold
weather. Is there a way to set the car to draw
in outside air when I use remote start?  I
leave the temp on Auto when I shut the car
down and it has been drawing air from the
outside. In the winter, I don’t ever use
recycled air function.

When parking your Jeep at night, set the climate control to "Defrost". That will click on the A/C function which will dehumidify and remove moisture form the air that would otherwise condense on the windshield. Also, while driving home, run your Defrost function before parking for the night to dry out the interior air. And yes, Winter air from the outside is dryer than the air inside the Jeep.
