Dodge made a LOT of trucks in that body style, and they seem to last about as well as any other truck of the era. The 318 is one HONEY of an engine, and tuned properly will give more than acceptable gas mileage too. The big thing is to keep up on the maintenance. The transmissions tend to run a bit hot, so a good transmission cooler is almost a must have item. Oil changes are important, as with any vehicle almost 30 years old. If the body is good, then chances are you have a good truck. One thing to remember: There are NO 30 year old lemons! The vehicles that last this long are the best built, best maintained of the fleet. If it is still good after 30 years, there is really no limit to how long it will last.
