oil light goes on at idle speeds,and in park. this is my wifes car,and i was told by a mechanic that she may have gone too fast too quickly?

the oil light only comes on at low peeds, is this a belt problem?

i do not think this is the problem and i dont think you will like the answer, when the oil light comes on when the engine speed is low but goes off when the engine speed is brought up to a higher level , as going down the road, usually means that the rod and main bearings are worn to the point that at idle speed the oil pump cannot keep up with engine. should have oil preasure manually checked to see what its real oil preasure is.
