Why is my battery light still on inside of my car, I replaced the battery and the alternator

Asked by Neilscott Oct 01, 2016 at 09:17 PM about the 2000 Dodge Stratus SE Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Two weeks ago my car wouldn't start, so I took my
negative cable of the battery and it went dead. I
bought a brand new alternator, put it on and it crunk
right up. Two weeks later it's dead again, so I figure
it has to be the battery. I replace the battery and it
cranks right up, my only concern is that the battery
light inside my car is still on. What does this mean?
Also I took the negative cable off again and the car
went dead.

First of all never disconnect the battery terminal from the vehicle when it is running because you can send a electrical surge to the computer and fry it you can do that with the older vehicles because they do not have computers now either the computer is gone or you may have gotten lucky and just blown the alternator fuse or may have blown the new alternator.
