Check your belts and make sure they are tight. The code may be stored in the cars computer and will need to be cleared before the light will go out. Did you just recently do your alternator and battery? Or did you do it at 35k and now you have driven it for several thousand miles and the light is just now coming on?

thanks for response....just bought car from trusted and knowledgeable mechanic. It had not been used for some time but appears to be in great shape. He put new battery in it and no light for about 20 miles. Then light on. I drove it with light on to visit a friend..left it for several hours and when I returned drove home about 20 miles and no light on. Friend then put a new alternator in car. Today, after a few miles...light on..Am wondering if I should take to Dodge service as it may be a quirk that they may be familiar with. Any thoughts appreciated.

Sounds like you covered all of your bases. New battery and alternator. There shouldn't be any reason for the battery light to be on. I would call the guy you got it from and see if he can clear the error code. If not, then you will have to take it to the dealer and have them clear it. And since you're there, have them read the error code. Who knows...could be something other than the battery or alternator.
